Look Around at Art in Odd Places – This Month

October 9th, 2009

second

As if the streets were speaking directly to pedestrians, lettered stickers spell out poetic text messages on manhole covers while Mylar sticker versions mirror the immediate surroundings. In both interventions the stickers’ shapes echo the manhole covers’ elegant patterns. Contemplative in intent, the aim of this project is to offer an opportunity for new experiences as you pass by.

During October new interventions and new messages will be posted in manhole covers.
You can suggest messages to be posted and see them written on 14th street . Send messages and read more about the project on the project website

Electronic Picnic at Conflux City this weekend

September 17th, 2009

postcard

On Sunday, for ConfluxCity, we will be doing a workshop at the Washington Square Park (north west entrance) where, using the social characteristic of picnics, we get people together for an afternoon to create something interactive that could be experienced in the end of the workshop, at the park. The ingredients are a bunch of electronics components that we ask participants to bring, a lot of batteries and other solutions to try to survive to the lack of electricity and food, of course.

If you are interested in participating please register at the Electronic Picnic website.

Also, as I blog before, I’m going also to present in the same day and for the same festival, the periscope that I created for the bus intervention, part of EnjoyMyView. It will displayed from 2PM to 4PM at Broadway, 721, New York. ( btw Waverly Place and Washington Pl).
