Sol Soduku
Freelance Work. Sept 2007

A interactive soduku game/application based on Sol Lewitt’s mixture of conceptualism and the abstract grid. A collaboration with video artist 99Hooker. Sol Sudoku offers the viewer the chance to create their own mesmerizing and beautiful “video quilts” as they play the game, adding their own musical background.

Created in Flash, this offline application gives the user the ability of playing soduku with 2 different videos galleries and 2 levels: easy for beginners and medium for more advanced players. Once those settings are defined the user starts playing the soduku game, using the keyboard and the mouse. While playing, the user can always return to the main menu to start a new game or use the clear button to start from the beginning the game that was chosen. If the game is getting hard to finish, the user also has the possibility of clicking the "finish it" button, to see the final video result. When the user finish the game by himself, he can choose from 3 different soundtracks, the sound that will be played. If the user had clicked the "finish it" button, this option will not be available.
The aim was to create an interactive game, with an easy and simple interface that tries to minimize the steps that the user has to take to reach the game itself and that allows the user to always interrupt the action that he/she has taken.
